The Basics of Mechanical Engineering (EST120) is a common course for APJ KTU B-Tech Students in the first year (S1 &S2) 2019 Scheme. This course exposes the students to the thrust areas in Mechanical Engineering and their relevance by covering the fundamental concepts. A typical introduction to mechanical engineering includes design and analysis of machines, rigid body mechanics, fluid mechanics, dynamics, optimization, computer-aided design & applications, thermodynamics. Besides those, there is a number of other topics which will be covered in Basics of Mechanical Engineering as well as courses taught in subsequent years.
